About
The founder of Fresh Press, N, is a nature, art, and learning enthusiast. As a child, she enjoyed playing outside, drawing, and reading. Art was her favorite class throughout high school. Visual creativity was magnetic, and she got into agriculture, landscape architecture, and teaching catechism, to name a few outlets.
Pressing leaves and flowers was a hobby, and N explored using their form, color, and texture to create pictures. She was intrigued by the minimal approach of relying on the natural quality of plant material to communicate ideas. N and a friend made designs into greeting cards, and Fresh Press was born in 2020.
Fresh Press crafts paper goods made with art from pressed plants. The studio is based in the Baton Rouge area, and artwork highlights the beauty of nature and everyday moments.
The process of making art echoes the meditative and cyclical essence of nature. Flowers and leaves are collected. They are pressed between the leaves of books. They’re arranged into pictures. Art is scanned and goods are printed locally. Seasons change, always providing material and inspiration.
